The Seasonal Kitchen – February
Feb 18 2016 /6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
“The Seasonal Kitchen: Cooking with the Bounty of the Region” is a year long series of cooking classes intended to teach people how to slow down and cook delicious, nutritious, locally grown seasonal food.
In an attempt to reconnect people with the food and traditions of the past, each month’s theme will reflect the cultural practice of referring to the cycles of the moon based on seasonal offerings.
HUNGER MOON – ROOTED TO THE EARTH
Beyond carrots and potatoes ~ ground your health with oft-neglected root vegetables rutabagas, turnips, parsnips and beets! Come and meet a wide variety of our homely, nourishing friends who grow beneath the soil!!!
During this last cold month of winter, participants will learn to prepare two delicious savory dishes: Rutabaga Hummous and Magical Root Vegetable and Maple Gratin. By combining the remainder of the autumn harvest storage with particular spices, we can warm and ready our bodies for the cleansing of spring to come.
Instructor: Patricia Berger shares the wisdom and delight of local and seasonal food preparation through her Ayurvedic health coaching practice, classes, and workshops around the region. A vibrant and well-respected teacher & practitioner of Yoga, Massage and Ayurveda, she considers the art of preparing, serving and enjoying food in alignment with the seasons of Nature to be a joyful, sacred alchemy which creates nourishment and health on every level.
PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED; SORRY, NO WALK-INS.
